5 restaurants you probably haven’t tried

You may have heard of them or may have tried a few of them, but there are some more that are waiting for you to visit. Check out a quick list that you may want to try out this weekend:

Shang Place: Enjoy dishes from 45 year old legacy of serving the Chinese cuisine by none other than Shangri-La’s signature restaurant ‘Shang Palace’. This fine dining restaurant is serving delicacies from the cuisine of Sichuan, classics of Cantonese and the Yunnan. The restaurant claims to have introduced these in India for the very first time.

  • Must haves: Dimsums, Chengdu bo-bo chicken, sauna prawns, scallop har gao with black truffle and Beijing roast duck.
  • Must drink: the traditional Chinese tea recommended with the meal.
  • Average cost: 5000 for two (approx.)
  • Timings: 12:30 PM – 2:45 PM ; 7:30 PM – 12:00 midnight
  • Where: The Shangri-La’s Eros Hotel, 19, Ashoka Road, Connaught Place, New Delhi

Big Bongg Theory – Must visit for trying out the authentic Bengali cuisine in Delhi.  It’s a small set up and the chef herself comes to personally take your order.

  • Must have: almost anything. Right from their starters: the bengali chops, boras and devils. For the main course you could either go for their full set meal or create your own platter. The Rohu Fish simmered in a creamy yogurt-based sauce, the Duck Egg Curry, the Prawn Malai Curry are awesome. You could also try raw Banana Kofta and Aloo Posto.
  • Must drink: They also have a tea room where they serve several varieties with Bengali accompaniments such as the fish cutlet, egg devil, beet chop etc.
  • Average cost: Rs. 800 for two (approx.)
  • Timings: 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM

Teddy Boy : One of the recent addition to Delhi’s fancy bar list. This place offers cocktails and a varied fusion menu done by Doyel Sarangi of Masterchef fame.

  • Must have: Potato Skin Salad with mint chutney along with mishti-doi on the side; Tortilla Bruschetta with creamy mushroom topping and a garnish of chocolate shavings; stuffed Tandoori Mushroom; and Palak Patta Chaat.
  • Must drink: Collision Martini with Blueberry and Cucumber,Prom Night LIIT, the Chennnai Tang with orange, strawberry and curry powder- a genius combination!
  • Where: N-86, First Floor, Outer Circle, Connaught Place
  • Price: INR 1,600 for two {approx.}
  • Timings: 12pm – 12.30am

Hot Mess: This place has been making news amongst food enthusiasts for its aphrodisiac-themed menu which uses ingredients like hot chillies, bananas, avocados, pomegranates and red wine.

  • Must have: Chur-Chur Pizza, Spicy Hot Bean Chicken Steam Momo, Punjabi Butter Chicken
  • Must drink: Imli Patola, Strawberry and Chocolate Martini, Sparkling Daisy
  • Average cost: INR 1,500 for two (approx.)
  • Timings: 11:30am – 12:30am
  • Where: M11, Middle Circle, Connaught Place

Hive – Kitchen & Bar: world cuisine with locally adapted food preferences. They serve Mcoroccan, Italian and Spanish delicacies right in the heart of the famous Green Park market.

  • Must have: Saked sea bass with hummus, mint & tahini served with quinoa tabbouleh, braised lamb shank served with mashed potatoes, naan pizza and tandoori mushroom jalapenos.
  • Must drink: Mint Julip and Kokum Hive
  • Average cost: Rs.2,000 (approx. including alcohol) for two
  • Timings: 11am – 12:45am
